Who runs Studely
Studely is made by one person, in Romania. It is not a company, not a team, and not a content farm — which is worth saying plainly, because it explains both what the site is good at and what it is not.
Why it exists
Student discounts are scattered across provider pages that rarely say the thing you actually need to know: whether you qualify, whether it is genuinely free, what happens when the free part runs out, and whether the deal is even still alive. The lists that aggregate them are mostly link dumps, ordered by nothing in particular and rarely updated.
So Studely is small on purpose. There are 14 offers across10 categories right now. Each one was read, checked against the provider's own terms, and scored by hand before it was published. Adding a hundred more by scraping would take an afternoon and would make the site worse.
How an offer gets on the site
An offer is listed only if the eligibility path is clear — a school email, SheerID, the provider's own student programme, or similar. If I cannot work out who actually qualifies, it does not go up.
Everything is then scored against the same fixed criteria, starting from a neutral 5 and moving up or down for named reasons: a bundle of paid products, an instant eligibility check, a credit card required up front, credit that expires. Every point is shown on the offer's own page, so you can disagree with a specific reason instead of a mystery number. The full method is on How we score.
What Studely deliberately does not do
- It does not claim to verify offers. There is no human verification log yet, so no page here says "verified" — that would be a promise without a record behind it. A weekly job re-fetches every link, and anything it cannot reach gets looked at by hand.
- It does not sell placement. No offer is here because someone paid for it, and payment can never move a score. If a sponsored placement ever runs, it will be labelled on the offer itself.
- It does not collect anything about you. Reading the directory needs no account, and there is no analytics of any kind — I genuinely do not know how many people visit. Sign-in exists only for me, to edit the catalogue.
- It does not pretend to be bigger than it is. The counts above are read from the database when the page is built.
How it is funded
Studely earns nothing today: no offer here is an affiliate link and no advertising is running. We intend to add both, and will say so plainly here and on the offer itself when we do. Payment will never buy a better score.
The intention is affiliate links and advertising, because a directory that costs nothing to read has to pay for itself somehow. When either starts earning, it will be stated here and on the affected offer in plain language — not buried in a footer. Thedisclosure page is kept in the present tense for exactly this reason.
Getting it wrong
Offers change without warning, and some of what is on this site will be out of date before I notice. If you find a dead link, a changed price, or eligibility rules that no longer match what we say — tell me and I will fix or pull the listing. Always confirm the current terms on the provider's own site before relying on an offer.
